Abi Sundaramoorthy, MD

EVP, Clinical Enterprise

Dr. Abi Sundaramoorthy is the Executive Vice President of the Clinical Enterprise as Somatus, Inc. She served as Chief Medical Officer at University Hospitals, Conneaut Medical Center from 2016-2019 prior to her system leadership role. Prior to joining Somatus, Dr. Sundaramoorthy served as System Clinical Value Officer at University Hospitals Health System. In her role, Dr. Sundaramoorthy led High-Reliability Medicine, working with the Department of Operational Effectiveness in reducing variable cost per case in medical care, as well as optimizing revenue through evidence-based clinical decision support to reduce care variations. She also led the clinical operations arm of the CMS Bundled Payments for Care Improvement Advanced Program at University Hospitals ensuring evidence-based decision making to optimize the next site of care and reduce readmissions. In her role as the system lead for patient safety, Dr. Sundaramoorthy is responsible for the management system of a High-Reliability Organization to create a zero-harm environment.

Prior to joining University Hospitals, Dr. Sundaramoorthy completed her Honors Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Psychology at the University of Toronto in 2006. She then received her Medical Degree at St. George’s University, School of Medicine in 2010. After receiving her MD, Dr. Sundaramoorthy completed her Internal Medicine Residency with the Case Western University Program at MetroHealth Medical Center in 2013. In 2019, Dr. Sundaramoorthy received her Master in Business Administration at Baldwin Wallace University.

In 2015 Dr. Sundaramoorthy served as a member of the Advisory Board for the Ohio Health Transformation Initiative in Governor Kasich’s office. She also served as Medical Staff Representative on the UH Conneaut Board from 2015-1028. In 2018, Dr. Sundaramoorthy received the YWCA award for Women of Professional Excellence.

Dr. Sundaramoorthy is a Classical Indian Dancer having performed internationally and continues to engage in her dancing skills. She is also a Black Belt in Tae-Kwon Do.
