Ethan Ko, DO

VP, Medical Affairs

Dr. Ethan Ko brings national leadership experience and recognized patient care ability to Somatus as the Vice President of Medical Affairs. Prior to joining, he was at DaVita Kidney Specialists of Fredericksburg serving as their physician manager and clinical nephrologist delivering the full spectrum of kidney care to his patients.

He has been honored as a “Top Doctor” by Northern Virginia Magazine for five consecutive years and received the highest CMS rating possible during his tenure at DaVita’s Lee’s Hill dialysis unit. Dr. Ko also serves as a member on Epic’s Adult Nephrology Steering Board and volunteers as a nephrologist in his local community.

Dr. Ko has held various leadership positions serving as the Chairman of Medicine and Chairman of Pharmaceutical and Therapeutic committees for HCA Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, physician leader for the Dialysis Operating Committee, and Epic Physician Builder for Mary Washington Hospital. He was also a member of the clinical advisory board for the Moss Free Clinic in Fredericksburg, VA.

He received his medical degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM). After receiving his DO, Dr. Ko completed his Internal Medicine residency with Rutgers University Hospital in Newark, NJ. He then went on to complete his Fellowship training at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Dr. Ko holds a teaching position at VCOM as a clinical assistant professor in Internal Medicine/Nephrology and serves as their Director of Student Medical Education.
