VIENNA, Va. — Somatus, the market leader providing value-based kidney services to health plans, health systems, and nephrology and primary care groups, is pleased to announce the opening of the Somatus Comprehensive Kidney Care and Dialysis Center at Mount Vernon Hospital. The center, opened in partnership with Inova Health System and Washington Nephrology Associates, provides the full-suite of kidney care services including in-center dialysis, home dialysis training rooms, and transplant education for patients.
“With the center located on the Inova Mount Vernon campus, we are able to provide patients and members of the community convenient access to the high-quality care they deserve and the supportive and committed care team they need to feel empowered,” stated Dr. Ikenna Okezie, Co-Founder and CEO of Somatus. “I look forward to welcoming patients to experience a new level of care in a space that has been designed to offer them peace of mind and a best-in-class treatment team.”
The center, opened in partnership with Inova Health System and Washington Nephrology Associates, provides the full-suite of kidney care services including in-center dialysis, home dialysis training rooms, and transplant education for patients.
The spacious, 6,400 square foot center contains twelve in-center dialysis chairs and four home dialysis training rooms. Each unit within the center offers reclining chairs, personal TVs, multimedia education, and a language translator to maximize patient comfort and need during their treatment. Each Somatus patient is paired with a team of dedicated and experienced professionals who are there to support them at every stage of their treatment. The team includes nephrologists, nurses, social workers, dialysis technicians, and renal dietitians who can help schedule appointments, coordinate with a patient’s care team, and support care transitions for patients and families. The center will have the capacity to treat up to seventy-two patients per week and train fifty patients for peritoneal dialysis or home hemodialysis.
Somatus is currently the largest provider of inpatient dialysis in the region and previously opened an outpatient dialysis center and in-center hemodialysis center in Falls Church, Virginia. Together, Somatus and Inova will open additional centers across Northern Virginia.
